Not everyone is a home designer, but
everyone knows what they like when they see it. Unique Retreat’s
home design and consulting service offers as much or as little
assistance as you need to ensure that your new home or renovation
matches your vision as well as your budget.
First Steps
If our years of experience have taught us
anything, it’s that everyone’s taste is different. So for starters,
we always take the time to listen. Regardless of whether you need
just a bit of help in selecting the right floor plan or color
scheme, or even if you’ve never even considered the options
available, our team will guide you through the choices and work
patiently with you to make selections. Proper planning means a
beautiful home, with no surprises. We won’t let you fail.
Putting together the
pieces
The key to designing a beautiful Unique Retreat
is blending art with science, and then in using the right tools to
“see” the home before the first nail has been pounded. A good
floor plan that satisfies your needs is the first step, and we’ll
share our experience and ideas to help create one that works for
you. We’ll render the plan, for multiple levels, in 3-dimensions
using Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools that not only allows us to
ensure that the home can actually be constructed, but also to give
you a preview of how it will look upon completion. CAD tools also
allow us to easily “what if” the process to explore making
refinements. Might you want to flip a floor plan, add a window,
change a doorway, add a deck or make a room larger? Once the base
plan is in CAD, making structural and organizational changes are as
easy as a few mouse clicks. We can even continue to make
changes to the plan as construction commences. CAD tools also let
us understand how changes affect building costs to ensure that while
we meet your design goals, we also meet your financial
expectations.
Once the shape of the buildings is set, we’ll
turn attention to interior and exterior finishing, and those touches
that will make it your unique retreat. Would
you like carpet, hardwood, slate or tile flooring? Should the
walls be wood, drywall, or stone? Will the lighting be direct,
indirect, recessed or low voltage? Do you prefer brass fixtures
or chrome? Should the roof be metal or asphalt shingles? 7 or 8
foot garage doors? Pine or Cedar siding? The options are many, but
Unique Retreat knows the ropes. We’ll show you not only what
elements are available, but also how they look, what they cost, how
much maintenance is required, and how long they’ll last. With our
help, your retreat will be exactly as you dreamed.
Making Decisions
By clicking on the following links, you can
download an introductory questionnaire that we’ll use to guide you
through the materials selection process. You’ll need to get a
password first by making contact with us using the
“contact us” page. There is no
obligation.
We’re hopeful that you’ll select Unique Retreat
to construct your home, and our design service is part of our normal
build contract. However, we reserve the right to charge a fee
should you want to create a design for use by another builder. Any
fee will be based upon the effort we’ll expend in designing the home
of your dreams.
